Welcome to Ruz Bukhari, a family-owned restaurant that celebrates the flavors and traditions of the Middle East, brought to life by the passion of Mohammad Wais (Haji). The story of Ruz Bukhari began in 1997, when Mohammad first opened Ruz Bukhari Restaurant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With a love for authentic cuisine and a dedication to family, the restaurant quickly became a beloved part of the community.
A Journey of Resilience and Flavor
After thriving in Afghanistan, Mohammad moved to Florida in 2009, where he began his journey as a head chef. In 2016, he opened Bold City Kabobs, bringing authentic Afghan flavors to the area. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the restaurant’s closure, Mohammad’s dedication never wavered. His passion for sharing Afghan cuisine with the community continued, fueling the evolution of his restaurant.
A New Chapter: From Food Truck to Family Hub
In 2021 Ruz Bukhari came back to life as a food truck. The demand for the delicious, authentic Afghan food was so overwhelming that the small food truck could no longer meet the needs of the loyal customer base. They decided to take the next step—purchasing Levant Grille and transforming it into Ruz Bukhari. This location has a special history as a Mediterranean restaurant for nearly 14 years, and it’s now the home of Ruz Bukhari, where generations of family work side by side.
